1st Place Class 11, Newport to Bermuda Race 2008 Aquarius, Sam Fleet’s Swan 601, won Class 11,the other Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Division. The corrected time for Aquarius was 63:04:10.

3rd place in Fleet - Antigua Sailing Week - A third yacht Racing I yacht, Sam Fleet’s Swan 601, Aquarius, received the Quin Farara Cup for third overall. |

Using the same inshore tactics to win the day and the regatta in IRC 1 was Sam Fleet's (East Greenwich, R.I.) Swan 601 Aquarius. Fleet, who had been following his closest competition, Bill Alcott's (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) Andrews 68 Equation, until the moment when Equation "went left and we went right," gained 20-25 boat lengths on his competition and rounded ahead at the next mark. "In the end, however, Equation beat us boat-for-boat (by about two boat lengths)," said Fleet, "but they still owed us time, so we won. It was a really exciting race."

1st place Rolex International Regatta, St. Thomas
Meanwhile in IRC 1, Sam Fleet's (East Greenwich, R.I.) Swan 601 Aquarius kept damage to a minimum to win on the merit of a 3-1 scoreline. "We took delivery of the boat last November. It was the old Artemis, geared for Mediterranean sailing in eight knots. But now it's a go-fast boat since we added a bowsprit and an asymmetrical spinnaker for IRC racing." This is Fleet's first time competing at the Rolex Regatta, and he came because of the new IRC offering here. "So far I'm really happy," Fleet added. "The courses are beautiful and I love going around the islands."

1st place Race 1 of the Caribbean Big Boat Series, St. Maarten
The CBBS Cups, presented to the high scorers in the Caribbean Big Boat Series, went to Sam Fleet’s Swan 601, Aquarius, in the Racing category and to Peter Harrison’s Farr 115, Sojana, in the Racing/Cruising class.
